5 Types of Hair Extension

There are a range of hair extensions available, most of which can be adapted to the needs of the client. Most of the time, they are differentiated through the various application types and techniques used. They can vary in quality, the very best product is created from human hair which gives a beautiful soft and silky texture. Which type of these to select can be based on how long they are going to be used. If they are only going to be used occasionally it may be preferable to just use the synthetic version of the extension.

Clip on extensions

Clip ons are the quick and easy answer to the desire for a long luxurious look for special occasions. They are very easy to fit and can be detached easily when your hair needs washing. There is no glue involved so there is no damage to your scalp and because they are applied assisting with the clips, it is possible to own many different styles of clip on extension.

Taped hair extensions

They are marketed as very easy to use. Effectively your beautiful mane is sectioned and the tape is placed under it near the scalp. Fusion bonding is a method of attaching the extensions using a protein glue. This allows them to stay in place for up to three months but they can take up to hours to put in. The hair can be washed regularly with this method and is okay to use products such as gel or hairspray.

Bonded extensions

Bonding is a popular choice amongst professional barbers. The glue contains keratin bonds that are reliably strong and do not damage or weaken the extension from the hair. Bonded typed if professionally applied, leave your mane beautifully straight and flat. Each bond is attached to a natural hair section and is no bigger than a grain of rice. On average when applied in this way, they can last around three months but can require maintenance after around 6 weeks.

Micro Ring Extensions

These do not use glue or heat and can last over 3 months if maintained. They are attached to the natural hair near the scalp using an aluminium ring with a silion lining that eliminates the need for glue or fusion heat guns. They are also relatively quick to fit.
